Step-by-Step Degree Completion

Refer to the Master's Plan C Degree Completion steps for instructions. The steps on that document are outlined below.

Refer also to the MEd course plan template, which you can use to plan your degree and identify helpful resources.

Step #1: Submit GPAS (Graduate Progress and Audit System) to your MEd adviser for approval

  • The degree completion steps state that you should determine whether you'll use GPAS or the GDP (graduate degree plan). You should use GPAS; this is what all our MEd students use.
  • Submit all requests for transfer credits via email to your MEd adviser as early as possible. Make sure you share an unofficial transcript with information about courses that you request for transfer; be ready to provide syllabi if needed,
  • Submit all GPAS exceptions requests (instructions) in your GPAS for your degree requirements.
  • Your GPAS should be submitted in the first month of your last semester of coursework.  (Step-by-step instructions on how to submit your GPAS for approval)

Step #2: Complete the Application for Degree in MyU

Ensure you do this step correctly! If you need to change or update your graduation month, email [email protected]

Important! Maintain continuous enrollment - register for GRAD 999: If you've already completed your coursework and the term has ended, you'll need to request to register for GRAD 999 in order to keep your enrollment active as the University can only clear a degree in an active student status. Please note that students can use a GRAD 999 registration up to two times. To register, fill out the GRAD 999 request form.

Note: Directions on the Graduate School's website for MEd degree completion refer to submitting a GPAS Planner, however, School of Kinesiology does not use that tool. The process outlined above is what you should refer to when planning to graduate.
