Exercise Science Faculty Position Opening - Concordia College, Moorhead, MN

The Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Exercise Science at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota invites applications for a full-time (3/3 teaching load) faculty position in Exercise Science.  Rank is dependent on qualifications. Candidates possessing a terminal degree will be appointed to a tenure-eligible position. Those who are ABD will be appointed to a fixed term position with the possibility for conversion to tenure-eligible with degree completion.  Candidates possessing a master’s degree will be appointed to a fixed term position. We seek an individual who can contribute to the quality and continued growth of our Exercise Science program.  Over 100 students are currently declared majors/minors in the program.  This position will also carry some administrative responsibilities for either program administration or practicum administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Exercise Science or closely related field (or ABD with a clear completion timeline)

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching Exercise Science

- Commitment to a student-centered approach to teaching and integrative learning

- Interest in co-inquiry scholarship with students

- Active scholar including involvement in professional organizations
 

Minimum Qualifications:

- Master’s in Exercise Science or closely related field

- Teaching experience (graduate teaching experience acceptable)

- Record of scholarly activity

- Support for a liberal arts approach to education

- Sympathy with the mission of a college of the Lutheran church

Responsibilities:

- Teach courses in areas of specialty such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Biomechanics, Physiology of Exercise, Testing and Prescription, Health Promotion Programming and Evaluation, and Research and Testing in Exercise Science.

- Advise student majors.

- Work with the Exercise Science program including its curriculum to creatively maintain and improve its quality.

- Perform various administrative responsibilities related to either program administration or practicum administration.

- Engage in scholarly work.

- Serve on department and college-wide projects and committees.

- Other responsibilities as needed.
